Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
On talksport this morning:

Jim White: Is this his (Rice's) last Hurrah?

Sullivan: It has to be. We promised him he can go. He's got his heart set on going... ...In due course he has to go and we have to get a replacement.

Could have fucking waited a few days, couldn't he? Unless this is a last gasp pity plea.

Also confirmed that Moyes as far as he's concerned is staying, unless someone takes him away.

Also, the way he's speaking doesn't sound like a man who is imminently selling a football club, either....

That kind of money would get you 20% of Rice

It says on the official West Ham site that we got 15.9 million euros in total for the Conference League so about 13.5 million pounds.

It also says we are guaranteed a further 3.63 million Euros (about 3 million pounds) for qualifying for the Group Stage of the Europa League.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
Far cough, so we'll get:-

Qualifying for Group Stage €2.940 million.
Group stage wins, 6 @ €500k, €3.00 million
Winning the group, €650k.
Winning the lot €5 million

So just north of €11.5m. Plus TV monies, plus net proceeds of ticket sales, less ground hire etc, for 6 home games.

More than I was expecting, compared to last year in the Europa League. Similar amounts.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
There was a bit of paying down debt this season too wasn’t there aka giving Sullivan and Gold (deceased) Inc some of their own money back with extra interest.

Yes, that's right. In rough terms Kretinsky lobs in £125 million, £44 million to repay the shareholder loans (and only interest due £835k, nothing extra) and general good trading (7th place in the league, EL semis, etc) left us nearly £100 million in the bank, at the end of last season.

‘Our collapse in the league since then is the reason he's leaving.’

Indeed. It started January the season before. We could have earned a CL spot and made a final, but we flogged a tired squad and held back on spending. Which ultimately Moyes couldn’t handle this summer anyway.

It’s odd to say that despite a European trophy I firmly believe we have a chairman and owner that are holding us back and have no confidence in dealing with the loss of Rice.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
Expecting to act with any kind of class has always been an ask too far.

Maybe he was upset that nearly all the focus concentrated on the team, the manager and the fans.

The problem Sullivan has, is that he genuinely believes that 'savior of the club' shit, as well as making sure to rinse every penny.

The support over there, the support this club have had for decades, despite spending years and years of not winning anything...

Its way past time when a decent owner will take that on.

We're where we are desire of, not because of David Sullivan.

The fans are Champions League class, Sullivan mid-championship at very best, as far as owners go.

I don't think this was money orientated as such. Rice's situation and him likely leaving has been known for a long time. And while it's easy to deride a contract jffer from 18 months ago but its relevant because at that time we were near the top 4. Our collapse in the league since then is the reason he's leaving.

He's just a classless little prick who can't keep his mouth shut.

Or maybe he saw a bunch of people applauding Antonio for 'telling the truth' and thought he would do the same.

The only monetary link I can see is that based on Tuesday, if you were a football club owner or manager who has 100 million to spend and that's it - it wouldn't be Rice you'd be signing in that position.

That's Euros by the way:

Prize money
Similar to the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, the prize money received by the clubs is divided into fixed payments based on participation and results, and variable amounts that depend on the value of their TV market.

For the 2022–23 season, group stage participation in the Europa Conference League is awarded a base fee of €2,940,000. A victory in the group pays €500,000 and a draw €166,000. Also, each group winner earns €650,000 and each runner-up €325,000. Reaching the knock-out stage triggers additional bonuses: €300,000 for the round of 32, €600,000 for the round of 16, €1,000,000 for the quarter-finals and €2,000,000 for the semi-finals. The losing finalists receive €3,000,000 and the champions receive €5,000,000.

First qualifying round elimination: €150,000
Second qualifying round elimination: €350,000
Third qualifying round elimination: €550,000
Play-off round elimination: €750,000
Qualified to Group Stage: €2,940,000
Match won in Group Stage: €500,000
Match drawn in Group Stage: €166,000
1st in Group Stage: €650,000
2nd in Group Stage: €325,000
Knockout round play-offs: €300,000
Round of 16: €600,000
Quarter-final: €1,000,000
Semi-final: €2,000,000
Runner-up: €3,000,000
Champion: €5,000,000

Has anybody considered the amount of money we get for the conference league games? By my rough estimates it's close to 20 million for all the games up to and including winning the final?

There is no way even Sullivan would get away with selling rice and that amount of money not being spent this summer.

I read somewhere about how good our finances are but I don’t know how true that is.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
is there the possibility that some of our spending last summer (wasn't it in the region of £170m net?) was already being offset against money coming in from the sale of Rice this summer?

Possibly partly, but don't forget Kretinsky's injection of £125 million of share capital, which left us with nearly £100 million in the bank, at the start of last summer.

If this is the case then that explains why no further offer has been made and why the dwarf couldn't wait to tell the world Rice wants out because we have to sell this summer to balance the books of last summers spending and he can't risk a sale not happening because of breaching ffp?

nyc - i think he seems them as the future. Arteta has got a lot of good press, his methods are pretty forward thinking and they play good football.

plus i think there's a certain amount of chat that goes on when they are away with England.

Re: Sullivan confirms Rice is leaving and Moyes is staying
I think Man U will go after him pretty hard, especially if they get a new owner.

Statement signing, along with Kane. I also think that's why they've gone after Mount as bait for Rice.

Rice and Casemiro would be a quality midfield combo. Replace the donkey weighorst and shore up the defence, and they'll be pretty serious contenders I reckon,

If he goes to Chelsea doesn't that make a mockery of his leaving for CL football.
In all honesty he has as much chance by stating with us snd trying to win tbe Europa league. As mentioned Poch has a rebuilding job to do. He might not get him.back to CL.kevel in one season.
If/when an goes in the summer I think it'll be to Man Utd.

This is absolutely right.

On Wednesday night I listened to the post-match interview Rice gave and it gave a me a bit of hope that there maybe was a chance of extending his stay with us.
Fast forward to Thursday morning our low-life owner is mouthing off on the radio telling us that our cup winning captain will be sold. What a cunt. Coming out with such a statement makes it clear to me that he really doesn't give a fuck about the football. If winning that trophy meant anything to him he would never have come out with such negative crap.

And this offer he made 18 months ago. 18 months is a long time in football and did it not cross his mind to make Rice another offer having just won a trophy. Clearly not.
All he cares about is the transfer fee. But after what he's said that's not going to be as high as it could have been.

The bloke is a classless, money obsessed porno-dwarf shit cunt. The sooner he fucks off the better.

everyone sells their top talent - bar one or two.
we're no different.

the challenge is getting the best price and succession planning.

it sounds like they've had a good look at Alvarez.
